【相撲】 standing up (from a crouch) to wrestle; rising (from a crouch) to charge [attack] the opponent; the face-off; the charge.

●きれいな立ち合いでしたね. It was a clean charge, wasn't it?

●立ち合いがきたない use an unfair [a dirty] tactic at the face-off

・両者立ち合いが合いません. The two wrestlers did not rise to the attack at the same time.

・この一番は立ち合いが勝負のかぎになりますね. In this bout the face-off will be the key to victory.

●立ち合いで相撲の勝敗が決まることは少なくない. It is not infrequent that the initial charge decides a sumo bout.
